Creating Custom Firm Guidance and Notices

Updated yesterday

Overview

Workspace admins can deliver clear, firm-specific updates through two channels: recurring Notices and the new Workspace Guidance modal. Both are designed to keep professionals focused and informed—without disrupting their workflow. Use both tools to share context, reinforce standards, and make sure the entire team is working from the same playbook.

  • Notices are recurring pop-ups that surface high-priority messages to all users at a set frequency. Use these for announcements every user should see.

  • Workspace Guidance appears in the left sidebar and offers persistent access to tailored information. Ideal for evergreen guidance or reference materials that users can pull up when needed.

Configuring Notices

Use Notices to surface time-sensitive updates or recurring reminders to everyone in your workspace. Admins control the cadence—whether it appears once, daily, weekly, monthly, or with every refresh. Notices are ideal for:

  • Reinforcing key compliance standards

  • Highlighting new features or product updates

  • Listing disallowed client matters for quick reference

To create a notice:

  1. Open Settings from the left sidebar.

  2. Select Workspace under Settings.

  3. Under the Notice section, complete the following fields:

    • Title – The headline users will see. Keep it clear and specific.

    • Message – Compose the content of the notice that will be presented to users. The message supports standard HTML formatting, allowing for enhanced structure and styling as needed.

    • Disallowed Client Matters – ****If you use the Disallowed Client Matter functionality, you can toggle this on to display a table of all disallowed client matters beneath your message.

    • Display Frequency – Specify how frequently the notice will appear to users. The selected cadence will take effect from the time each user sees the message.

      • Once – Appears one time per user.

      • Daily – Repeats once per day.

      • Weekly – Repeats once per week.

      • Monthly – Repeats once per month.

      • Each Refresh – Displays every time a user logs in to Harvey, refreshes their browser, or opens Harvey in a new tab.

  4. Click Preview in the top right corner to view exactly how the notice will appear for all users. When ready, click Publish to save.

Configuring Guidances

Use Guidances to share persistent, firm-specific information with your workspace. It appears in the left sidebar, labeled with your firm’s name, and users can click to view the custom message. Guidance is ideal for:

  • Providing guidance on specific features or use-cases relevant to the firm

  • Offering contextual reminders that don’t require frequent visibility

To create a Guidance:

  1. Open Settings from the left sidebar.

  2. Select Workspace under Settings.

  3. Under the Guidance section, complete the following fields:

    • Message- Compose the content of the guidance that will be presented to users. The message supports standard HTML formatting, allowing for enhanced structure and styling as needed.

    • Custom Title- Enter an optional title that will appear within the custom guidance section. The title is currently limited to 13 characters.

  4. Click Preview in the top right corner to view exactly how the guidance will appear for all users. When ready, click Publish to save.

Access Control

Note: Only Admins with permission management privileges will be able to grant users the ability to customize Notices and Guidances. If you are interested in this feature, please reach out to your Harvey Success team.

Control who can create and manage Notices and Guidances with the Workspace Personalization permission. This allows you to delegate workspace customization to trusted users—without giving full admin access.

To grant this permission:

  1. Open Settings from the left sidebar.

  2. Select Users under Admin.

  3. Choose the user(s) you’d like to update and click Manage Permissions.

  4. Search for Workspace Personalization and click Add Permission to save.
