Overview

Workflows are designed to streamline interactions with Harvey by guiding users through structured, predefined processes.

Rather than requiring users to input detailed prompts, these workflows proactively gather the necessary context and generate high-quality, task-specific outputs. Along the way, they provide incremental progress updates, offering transparency into Harvey’s process and ensuring users stay informed.

Accessing Workflows

Open the Workflows tab to select a multi-step workflow. Alternatively you can access workflows in both Assistant and within Vault projects.

Access workflows through the left sidebar.

Using Workflows

  1. Select a category and a workflow that best fits your use case.
    1. Tip: Use the filter options to find workflows that match your desired output type and practice area.
Filter workflows by output and practice area.
  2. Follow the instructions on the screen to provide the required inputs, such as files, text, or choices.
    1. Users with access to Vault or DMS integrations (e.g., SharePoint) will be able to import files from these sources in any workflow step that calls for a file upload. You can mix and match between local files and Vault files when running workflows.
  3. Click Send in the bottom right corner.

Once the workflow has generated a response, you can:

  • Check Steps: At the top of the output, click the carrot next to “Finished in n steps” to view Harvey’s work.
  • Review Citations: Click into the numbered citations in-line or in the sources side panel on the right.
  • Perform Follow-Ups: Depending on the type of workflow output, you may have the option to ask additional questions or revise the response.
  • Share and Export: Share the workflow’s output with colleagues in your workspace, or export it as a Word or Excel document.

Draft Editor in Workflows

Draft Editor in Assistant Workflows allows you to edit documents directly within the platform alongside AI assistance. Instead of needing to export your AI-generated drafts to make changes elsewhere, you can now use built-in editing tools to refine your content without leaving the platform. This feature is available for any workflows with a draft output:

  • Draft a Client Alert
  • Draft from Template
  • Proofread for Spelling and Grammar
  • Draft an Interim Operating Covenants Memo
  • Draft an Item 1.01 Disclosure
  • Draft Memo from Legal Research

Technical Guidelines

Each workflow will have specific file types supported and file size limits, optimized for the highest quality output and most common use cases. Over time, we will expand the supported file types and file limits for each workflow. Current limits are displayed within each workflow in Harvey.
