Sharing Vault Projects

Discover how to share Vault Projects.

Updated over a month ago

Important Note: The Sharing feature is currently available on an opt-in basis for users that have Vault. If you're interested in this feature, please contact your Harvey Admin.

Overview

Vault Projects can be shared seamlessly with other professionals in your workspace. Sharing is limited to members of the same workspace, meaning only users within your organization can access shared items.

By default, all projects are private. Users must explicitly grant access to a project before it is available to other users.

Granting Access

Important Note: Sharing options may vary based on workspace settings. If the ‘Share’ button isn’t visible, or if you’re unable to enable sharing with “anyone with the link,” please contact your Harvey Workspace Admin for assistance.

After you create your Vault project, you will see an option to 🔗 Share your project in the top right corner. Projects can be shared with users that have access to Vault in two different ways:

  1. Sharing with individual users.

  2. Sharing with anyone in the workspace via a link.

Sharing with individual user(s).

  1. Enter the email address(es) in the text field.

  2. Choose an access level from the dropdown:

    1. Can view: View and copy queries and files.

    2. Can edit: Modify queries and add or remove files.

    3. Full access: Manage the project and modify sharing access.

  3. Click ‘Grant permission’.

Sharing with anyone in the workspace via a link.

  1. From the dropdown, select ‘Anyone at [company] with the link.’

  2. Choose an access level from the dropdown:

    1. Can view: View and copy queries and files.

    2. Can edit: Modify queries and add or remove files.

    3. Full access: Manage the project and share access with others.

  3. Click ‘Copy link’ and share the link in any form you prefer.

Removing Access

You can revoke access at anytime by navigating back to the project and clicking on ‘Share’ in the top right corner. Open the dropdown menu next to the user or link you want to revoke and select ‘Remove.’

Viewing Shared Projects

With shared access, users can view all files and queries within the project. Depending on the access level granted by the sharer, they may also have either edit permissions (allowing them to modify files/queries) or full access (enabling changes to the entire project or sharing settings).

Users can find projects shared with them in the Shared with you section at the top of the Vault page, next to Your Projects.

FAQ

Q: Can users share individual Vault queries without sharing the entire project?

No, users can only share entire Vault projects, including all files and queries within them.

Q: What happens if the workspace Admin disables sharing?

If an admin disables sharing, all previously shared items will be set to private. Even if sharing is later re-enabled, the items will remain private and must be manually shared again.

Q: What happens if I give someone ‘full access’ to a project and they delete it?

At this time, shared projects that are deleted by any user are unrecoverable.

Q: How do admins control sharing?

Admins play a key role in enabling sharing features. Sharing options must be enabled by admins at the workspace level for the feature to appear in the user experience. Admins can also fine-tune sharing permissions, such as disabling sharing via link while still allowing users to share with specific individuals.

Q: Will users be notified when a project is shared with them?

At this time, users do not receive automatic notifications when an item is shared with them. To view shared items, users can navigate to the “Shared with you” tab in Vault.

Q: Will projects shared with ‘anyone in the workspace via a link’ automatically appear for everyone in the workspace?

No, projects shared via link will only appear for users who open the link. Once a user clicks the link, the item will then show up in their “Shared with you” tab.
