Product Updates
We’re excited to announce a few upcoming changes: Research tab modules, history and usage exports, and sharing within Assistant and Vault.
Knowledge Sources in Assistant
On October 30, all Research knowledge sources will be moved into Assistant’s Assist mode. This change is designed to make it easier to find and tap into knowledge sources directly within Assistant.
What will change?
Find knowledge sources through Assistant instead of the Research tab.
Follow-ups for queries with knowledge sources will become available. They will retain previous query content and perform independent searches for each follow-up.
What will not change?
AI quality between interfaces
Filters and citations
Access to knowledge sources
The Research tab will remain accessible until further notice. However, users selecting a knowledge source in Research will be redirected to Assistant to perform their queries.
How it works
Select Knowledge Source
Choose one knowledge source from the Sources panel in Assistant’s Assist mode. Below is an illustrative example.
Apply filters
Select knowledge source filters for your query. Below is an example for EDGAR.
Get results
Run your query and receive results with citations, just like you do today in Assistant.
History & Usage Export Updates
To preserve workspace data correctness, the following changes will be done in conjunction with the Knowledge Sources in Assistant update.
History and Workspace History will feature a new ‘Source’ column to specify the source linked to each query, whether it’s a user-uploaded document or a selected knowledge source. This applies to all products, including workflows such as Redlines or Translation.
Once you have transitioned from the update, in-app exports will be generated with the new column and task type updates (attached and detailed below). In History tables, Research queries will be converted into Assist mode queries tied to the corresponding knowledge source.
The following is a summary of the changes:
Assistant queries will have the type ‘Assist’ or ‘Draft’, depending on which mode was used. The ‘Source’ column will denote whether documents or a knowledge source was provided.
Research queries will become the type ‘Assist’ with the ‘Source’ column labeled by Research module name.
Legacy Assistant query types, such as Open Ended, will be deprecated.
Workflow queries will have the ‘Source’ column labeled as ‘Documents’.
Vault Ask queries will become of type ‘Assist’ with the ‘Source’ column labeled as ‘Vault’.
Various product lines will have an updated task name to ensure consistent formatting.

Attached is an Excel spreadsheet with the current Task types, their corresponding new Task types and Sources, and a sheet noting the valid Task types and Sources.
Query & Usage API Updates
All changes in the UI-based export will also be reflected in Query and Usage API responses. API responses will be returned in the new schema when your workspace has received this update.
You can preview the payload schema changes with examples in our documentation for the Get Query History API and the Get Usage History API.
If you foresee needing more than 2 weeks to enable this update, please contact your Harvey account team as soon as possible. We will work with you to facilitate a smooth transition.
Sharing in Assistant and Vault
Starting today, sharing is available on an opt-in basis. If you’d like to enable this for your workspace, please reach out to your Harvey account team.
If enabled, users can share for Assistant threads (in a view-only capacity) and/or Vault projects (view or edit access).

Can I use multiple knowledge sources at a time? Such as uploading a document and querying over EDGAR?
No, knowledge source mixing is currently unavailable. We may add this as a feature in the future.
Will new knowledge sources that Harvey releases get built into the Research tab, or into Assistant?
New knowledge sources will get built into Assistant.
Can I opt-out of this transition?
This product update will be implemented for all firms. However, if you have specific reasons for needing a delay, please contact your Harvey account team as soon as possible. We will work with you to facilitate a smooth transition.
