Overview
Harvey is the AI platform for legal work, used by law firms and in-house legal teams to research, draft, and review documents. Harvey for Slack brings Harvey into the channels where in-house legal teams already work, so you can get answers, review documents, and kick off drafting without leaving the conversation and losing the thread.
Mention @Harvey in a channel or DM the app directly to ask questions, work with attached documents. Harvey replies in-thread, so answers stay tied to the Slack discussion that prompted them. You can also save files or threads to Vault, Harvey's secure document workspace.
Before You Start
- Ensure that your workspace admin has enabled the Harvey for Slack integration for your workspace. Admins can refer to Enable Harvey for Slack for Your Workspace for more details.
Connect your Harvey Account with Slack
Once your workspace admin has installed the Harvey for Slack integration, you can link your Slack account to your Harvey account. You'll be prompted to connect when:
- You message
@Harveyfor the first time in a DM or channel, or - A teammate shares a Harvey thread with you in a channel you're both in.
After linking, you can message Harvey right away.
How to Use Harvey for Slack
Ask Harvey anything, in-thread. Mention @Harvey in any channel the app has been invited to, or send it a direct message. Harvey replies in the thread, keeping the answer in context. Very long answers may be truncated in Slack, with a link to view the full response in Harvey.
Work with documents. Attach files to your message and put Harvey to work. Flag unusual terms in an NDA, summarize a redlined agreement, or turn a document into a short deck.
Save messages and files to Vault. Use the message shortcut (More actions → Save to Vault) to send a Slack message or thread—including linked contracts—to your Vault project.
Continue in Harvey. Every Slack conversation links back to the full thread in Harvey web, where you can bring in knowledge sources, run workflows, and keep working.
Share with your team. When you start a thread with @Harvey in a channel or group DM, Harvey prompts you to share the thread with teammates in that channel who also have Harvey accounts, so everyone can follow the work.
