Release Overview
Understand how Harvey manages product releases, rollout methods, and admin controls.

Overview
At Harvey, our mission is to help professionals achieve mastery faster using AI — and that means continuously improving our platform to meet the needs of global enterprise organizations.
We also recognize that enterprise customers need predictability, transparency, and governance when new features are available. To ensure you can plan effectively, we’ve standardized how we describe feature availability, rollout mechanics, and governance across all new releases.
Each new feature page includes a dedicated “Availability” section that outlines:
- The rollout method (how a feature is enabled)
- Any admin actions or configuration required
- The availability of the feature across processing environments (US, EU, AU)
This standardization ensures that every customer has the information needed to plan for adoption and manage rollout decisions confidently.
Availability Categories
Every feature release is now described using one of four availability labels:
All Users Default
The feature is automatically available to all users once it reaches general availability (GA). No admin action is required.
This rollout type is used for low-risk, broad improvements that do not require configuration or extensive training.
Exceptions: Because these releases are designed for universal enablement, these features cannot be disabled or delayed except in rare, compliance- or security-driven cases.
Examples: Performance Improvements, Updated Sources Panel UI
Opt-in
The feature is available only if an admin enables it after GA or requests enablement through a support ticket. This approach is used for releases that may require setup, training, or validation before being rolled out to end users.
Examples: Regional Knowledge Sources
Opt-out
The feature is enabled by default for all users after GA but can be disabled or configured by admins in the Roles page (permissions). This model ensures that users can benefit from improvements right away while giving admins control to restrict or modify access as needed.
Example: File Groups in Review
Admin Configuration
Admins must configure the feature in the Settings page before it becomes available to users. This approach applies to features that introduce new permissions, compliance controls, or workspace-level configurations.
Example: DMS integrations, Word Add-in
Regional Availability
Each “Availability” section also specifies where a feature is being rolled out across Harvey’s regional processing locations — US, EU, and AU. Note that if this is omitted, it is available across all environments. Regional availability ensures compliance with data residency requirements and helps teams plan internal testing and rollout timelines accordingly.
Early Access Program
Our Early Access (EA) program give customers the opportunity to preview and test new features and product capabilities before they become generally available. Participating in EA helps your team explore new functionality early — and gives us valuable feedback to make Harvey even better.
You can find all currently available Early Access features in the “Early Access” section of the Product Roadmap. If you are interested in joining a program:
- Reach out to your Customer Success Manager (CSM) and let them know which feature(s) in Early Access you’d like to test.
- Specify whether you’d like to enable testing for your entire workspace or for a group of specific users.
- Once enrolled, your CSM will confirm access and share any setup or enablement materials.
As you explore EA features, please share feedback with your CSM — what’s working well, what could be improved, and how it fits your workflows. Your input goes directly to our product teams and helps inform future improvements and product decisions.
Occasionally, we’ll also reach out proactively to schedule short user feedback sessions with teams testing EA features. These sessions are optional but provide a direct line to influence product direction.
Participating in Early Access is a great way to help shape the future of Harvey — giving your organization an early look at what’s next and ensuring new capabilities meet real customer needs before they launch broadly.
Admin Governance
All product releases follow the same rigorous security, compliance, and quality review process before launch. What differs is how they are activated and governed based on availability type:
- Admins maintain full control through the Settings and Roles pages.
- Rollout models (opt-in, opt-out, all users default, and admin configuration) are determined based on feature complexity, security impact, and risk profile.
- Early Access (EA) programs may be offered for select releases to allow customers to preview and test functionality before GA.
- Exceptions to the standard rollout model are rare and evaluated on a case-by-case basis, primarily for compliance, operational dependency, or data-handling reasons. Reach out to your CSM if you require this.
- All releases are documented in the Release Notes section of the Help Center for historical reference.
