Vault Recycle Bin
Vault Recycle Bin will provide a 30-day recovery window for deleted vaults, helping teams recover vaults deleted by users or retention policies. Authorized users will be able to restore entire vaults or permanently delete them before the recovery period expires.
What’s New
Vault Recycle Bin is now available, allowing workspace admins to recover deleted vaults for up to 30 days before they are permanently deleted from Harvey. When a vault is deleted, either manually by a user or automatically by a retention policy, it moves to the Recycle Bin, where workspace admins can:
- Recover an entire vault for up to 30 days after deletion.
- Permanently delete a vault before the 30-day window ends, with a confirmation step to prevent accidental removal.
- Review a log of deletion, restore, and permanent-delete activity, including who acted, when, and which vault was affected.
Why It Matters
This feature enables workspace admins to recover vaults themselves, without the need to file a support request to restore vaults that have been deleted accidentally or via retention policy.

Notes & Limitations
The Recycle Bin covers vault-level deletions only. A few cases are not supported:
- Vaults containing files added through DMS sync or DMS upload are not moved to the Recycle Bin when deleted and cannot be recovered through it.
- Individual files and folders cannot be recovered on their own. The Recycle Bin restores an entire vault, so to recover a single file, admins will need to restore the full vault and remove any content that is no longer need.
- Assistant queries and review tables inside a vault, and non-Vault items such as Assistant threads, Shared Spaces, and Playbooks, are not recoverable through the Recycle Bin.
FAQs
Q: Does restoring a vault reset its retention policy?
Yes. Once the vault is restored, its retention policy will reset. For example, if you have a 90-day retention policy, the restored vault will remain in Vault for another 90 days before it is automatically deleted again.
Q: Who can access and restore vaults from the Recycle Bin?
The Recycle Bin is currently only available to workspace admins. If you need a vault restored, contact your Harvey workspace admin.
