Vault Email Notifications
Vault Email Notifications allow admins to send proactive email alerts for vault retention deadlines, vault sharing, and review table row assignments.
What’s New
Admins can now enable Vault Email Notifications to send system-generated emails when key vault events occur.
Once enabled, Harvey sends email alerts when:
- A vault is approaching its retention-based deletion date
- A vault is shared with a user (internal or external)
- One or more review table rows are assigned to a user
Notifications are managed at the workspace level and apply to all users in that workspace.
Why It Matters
Vault activity often requires timely action. Without notifications, users must manually monitor Harvey to stay ahead of deadlines or assignments.
Vault Email Notifications help your organization:
- Avoid unintended data loss from retention-based deletions
- Increase visibility into vault sharing activity
- Accelerate response times for review table assignments
- Reduce missed follow-ups across teams and external collaborators
This ensures important actions are surfaced without requiring continuous monitoring.
How to Use
Vault Email Notifications must be enabled by an admin.
- Go to Settings.
- Select Notifications.
- Toggle on Vault Email Notifications.
Once enabled, Harvey automatically sends emails for supported vault events. No additional configuration is required.
Known Limitations
Vault Email Notifications currently support the following behaviors:
- Notifications are enabled or disabled at the workspace level only
- Individual users cannot opt out
- Emails do not include sensitive information, such as vault names or query details
- User-level notification preferences are not yet available
- For externally shared vaults requiring approval, notifications are sent only after admin approval
- For review table row assignments sent to users outside the originating workspace, notifications are delivered only if the recipient’s workspace has notifications enabled
Relationship to Other Features
Vault Retention Policies
Notifications provide advance notice of upcoming deletions but do not modify retention rules.
Vault Sharing
Email alerts are triggered when vault sharing is completed, including approved external shares.
Review Tables
When rows are assigned in a review table, users receive an email prompting them to take action.
