Release Notes
Review Table Nudge from Assistant
Assistant now recommends review tables when they’re the best fit for your prompt.
Note: This update is rolling out in phases. You’ll see the changes in your workspace by January 28, 2026.
What's New
Assistant will automatically suggest using a review table when your prompt calls for structured review.
Why It Matters
This update takes the guess-work out of deciding whether to use threads or review tables for analysis. Automatic guidance enables you to begin building review tables through natural language, making it easier to get organized, consistent results without leaving Assistant.
How to Use
When you launch an Assistant thread with files selected as context, Assistant can route to create a review table.
- In any Assistant prompt box, type in a query.
- If your prompt is better suited to review table analysis, you'll see an explanation of what review tables are and a list of suggested columns.
- Select Yes, build a review table to proceed immediately, or click Edit to adjust the columns and confirm.
- Once the table generates, continue using Assistant to ask questions about the table data, or add more columns to extract more information across your files.
Notes and Limitations
- Each Assistant thread supports one review table.
- A review table is generated using all files included when the table is created.
- While a review table is being created or used in Assistant, natural language prompts in the thread can’t be used to:
- Modify column metadata after columns are confirmed
- Ask questions while the table is loading
- Perform table actions such as editing or deleting columns, sorting, or filtering
- Columns must be explicitly defined. Assistant does not yet suggest default columns based on file contents.
- This feature does not yet support:
- Combining multiple knowledge sources (for example, uploaded files and web sources in the same table) — this is coming soon
- Sorting or running calculations across multiple columns via thread chat
- Using rows other than files (such as web sources)
- Creating a review table from a single file. Multiple files are required to generate a review table.
