Important Note: The Client Matter feature is not included in the base Harvey application. If you’re interested in adding Client Matters to your workspace, please reach out to your Harvey Workspace Admin for more details.

Overview

Client Matter Numbers play a pivotal role in organizing and managing legal work. In Harvey, they help streamline task tracking, ensure accurate records, and improve overall workflow efficiency.

How Client Matters Work

Client Matter Numbers (CM#s) in Harvey ensure your work stays organized and aligned with specific client projects. Here’s how they function across the platform:

  • CM# Persistence: Once you select a CM#, it remains active across all Harvey tools until you either change it or log out of Harvey.

  • Navigating Pre-Existing Threads: If you access a pre-existing thread, the CM# tied to the root of the thread will automatically apply, even if the side panel displays a different CM#.

  • Vault Projects: When creating a new Vault project, the CM# displayed in the side panel resets; however, Vault projects themselves can involve multiple CM#s.

Note: Workspace Admins can enable or disable Client Matter Numbers at the workspace level. If enabled, you may be required to associate your queries with a Client Matter Number before proceeding.

Selecting a Client Matter

To associate a query with a Client Matter:

  1. Navigate to the CM# dropdown menu in the upper-left corner, just below “Harvey.”

  2. Enter or select the relevant Client Matter Number from the dropdown.

  3. The selected CM# will remain active across all Harvey tools (e.g., Assistant, Translation, Vault) until you update it.

Viewing Client Matter Data

To view or manage Client Matter data:

  1. Go to SettingsClient Matters.

  2. Review the table to sort and filter data by various fields.

Note: Depending on your workspace configuration, you may have the ability to add or edit Client Matter Numbers across your entire workspace. If this functionality is not available, contact your Workspace Admin for details.
