Benefits of Custom Writing Styles
This feature streamlines the process of generating relevant content faster, with fewer prompts and iterations, while ensuring standardization across your company.

How Writing Styles Work
Both administrators and individual users can create and manage Custom Writing Styles:
- Admins: Styles created by administrators will be published and accessible to everyone within the workspace.
- Individuals: Styles created by individual users will only be visible and accessible to themselves.
You can create multiple writing styles to suit different needs, such as one for executive summaries and another for client emails. Once created, these styles will be accessible within the prompt window.
Note: During the Early Access phase, you'll find styles under the settings toggle (refer to image below). In the general release, a more prominent entry point under "customization" will be added.

Creating a Writing Style
Once you’ve opened the toggle for writing styles, there are two methods to create a style:
- Create using style guide: directly upload or paste a set of instructions or rules as your desired writing guidelines.
- Create using writing samples: upload or paste writing samples and Harvey will analyze and generate rules based on them.
You'll also have the ability to delete and edit any writing style you create.

Managing Writing Styles
To edit, delete, or update access settings on writing style, locate the style you’d like to update under your writing style options and proceed with the edit option or click the trash can icon to delete it. Note that only admins can share a writing style with the entire workspace.
Best Practices
To get the most out of this feature, consider the following best practices:
- Prioritize style guides over writing samples: When available, provide a comprehensive style guide.
- Provide concrete rules: Ensure your style guide contains specific, actionable directives.
- Avoid contradictions: Double-check that your rules do not contradict each other.
- Include local drafting standards (optional): Use this opportunity to incorporate conventions for other jurisdictions.
- Include concise example sentences (optional): A few simple examples can clearly illustrate the writing style and rules.
